Second Annual Austin Restaurant Week

It's that time again! The second annual Austin Restaurant Week took Austin by culinary storm March 1-4 & 8-11. Diners all over town got to experience fantastic three-course menus for $25 or $35 at some of Austin's hottest restaurants. Mike Sutter from the Austin American Statesman had the chance to visit a few of our favorite spots and wrote an amazing article about the success of our fantastic event.

AWEC Media Luncheon

Malaga's Tapas Bar
January 16, 2009

This year's Austin Wedding and Event Coordinator’s (AWEC) editorial media luncheon was held at Malaga’s Tapas Bar in the trendy 2nd St district. Soirée was excited to be involved again this year and the feedback from the local Austin media was amazing! Yellow was a popular theme as well as Creating the Space, The Involved Groom, Bridal Fashionista, Green, and Saving Green. The delicious lunch, fabulous décor, expert speaker panel, fashion show, lighting and DJ made this year's event one to remember.

Home Slice-O-Rama

Home Silce-O-Rama
November, 15, 2008
November 15 marked the second annual Home Slice-O-Rama(http://www.blogger.com/www.homeslicepizza.com). This pizza carnival featured several fun and kookie acts such as Wino Vino, the Great Calzoni (a pizza fortune teller, of course), and the whimsical dance troupe Little Stolen Moments. Children rocked out to the musical performance of Big Don - a children's rap artist, and carnival goers also enjoyed the music of DJ Ariel and Brownout!. Crowds were amazed as brave contestants battled it out in pizza eating contests, pizza tossing contests, and the always popular "hands on an eggplant sub" contest.
An impressive raffle was held at the carnival with proceeds benefitting Keep Austin Beautiful (http://www.blogger.com/www.keepaustinbeautiful.org). Children of all ages enjoyed games and prizes, and the "grown-ups" got to let lose too.
Home Slice pizza is a South Congress favorite with it's New York style pizza uber hip digs.

Greystar Red River Flats Grand Opening

November 12, 2008 Rare Magazine and Soirée celebrated the grand opening of Greystar Red River Flats. This property is located downtown across from The Mohawk and Club DeVille, and is a great location for music lovers. The event showcased art from Jaime Ibarra, the featured artist in Rare's November issue. Approximately 700 people joined us that night to listen to a very special acoustic set performed by Casey McPherson of Alpha Rev. The Corey Micheal Salon was present to give party goers "Rock Star" makeovers, and Annie Ray was on the scene with her popular photo booth. Excellent food was provided by Primizie, Brick Oven, Kenichi, and Cookie Lounge. Special thanks to Tito's Vodka, Sweet Leaf Tea, Maine Root, Nomad Sound, Ilios Lighting and Marquee Rentals for making the night perfect.

Greystar South Congress Apartments Grand Opening

September 17, 2008

Soirée teamed up with Rare Magazine to host the grand opening of the Greystar South Congress apartments. Greystar South Congress is the hip new apartment community located on South Congress, just north of 290. The event showcased work from local artist Chad Harlan, as seen in the September issue of Rare. Food was served from some of our favorite spots including Ecstatic Cuisine, Roux, The Woodland, Starlite, Irie Bean, and Delish. A special raffle was held to benefit the Young Filmmakers Program of the Austin Film Festival. The highlight of the evening was the fashion show. Models worked the runway that was built over the pool. (That's right, over the pool!) Special thanks to Tito's Vodka, Maine Root, Sweet Leaf Tea, Ilios Lighting, and Marquee Rents for helping to make this such a success!

Bel Air Lofts Phase II Grand Opening Party

September 4, 2008
Thursday marked the grand opening of the Bel Air Lofts Phase II. The unique and modern Bel Air Lofts are located on trendy South Congress. The event had a Palm Springs feel as guests listened to Frank Sinatra hits and enjoyed Bloody Marys. Hot rods from various collectors were on display at the property, and guests were treated to a special surprise as the roller derby team Hot Rod Honeys skated up to the party. The Hot Rod Honeys mingled throughout the party while staying on skates the whole time . . . very impressive!

Rarest of Them All 2008

June 1, 2008

The Soirée team partnered up with Rare Magazine to celebrate Rare's first annual reader's poll, "Rarest of Them All", with a huge event on top of The Monarch garage. There was live music, performance art, food from 40 of the best Austin restaurants, fashion, art and of course lots of drinks! Performances included break dancing from B-Boy/B-Girl City and hula hooping by Henna Kim. Annie Ray set up her photo booth and snapped pictures of the evening as well. Everyone had a chance to win gift certificates to their favorite spots with the raffle to benefit Lifeworks.
The view was amazing on top of The Monarch parking garage as the sun set, and the crowd enjoyed performances by Guy Forsyth, Mother's Anthem, and Alpha Rev. Big thanks to all of our sponsors, vendors, performers, and guests!

Akoya Condominiums Grand Opening Party and Fashion Show

April 22, 2008

Akoya Condominiums – located down on South Lamar off – opened its doors in Spring 2008. Known as one of the first truly green condo communities, the kick off party was an event not to be missed. It included food from some of Austin’s finest restaurants and catering companies, a full bar, great music, and a fashion show with looks from Austin’s top boutiques and designers. And the best part – proceeds of the event went to LifeWorks – a wonderful charity organization that transitions youth and families from crisis to safety and success.
